Marianne North

Born 24 October 1830 in Hastings. Died 30 August 1890.
Marianne North was a very intrepid painter and biologist, noted for her plant and landscape paintings and extensive foreign travels, her writings, her plant discoveries and the creation of her gallery at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London.
In travels over 14 years, Marianne North visited 15 countries and created more than 800 detailed paintings which now hang in her gallery built in Kew Gardens in 1882.
