
Amy Johnson
Born on 01 July 1903 in Hull. Died on 05 January 1941.
Amy Johnson was the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia.
She became a national icon and a living legend in her own lifetime, setting many long distance records in the 1930’s.
At the beginning of WW2, she baled out of her plane in poor weather and out of fuel in the Thames estuary near Herne Bay. Her body was never found.
